KIREnet is one of the older providers around, and most criticized, and while I don't find them great, their services are adequate. For $10.00, and a $10.00 setup fee, you get 3 backgrounds(2 bots) unlimited quota and quite a few vhosts. With nine servers connected to dual T1's to Sprint,  and 300+ customers KIREnet must be doing something right. Support could use some work, but if Blunt is around on IRC your questions will be answered. Overall KIREnet is an acceptable shell.

Update 8/7/2000

No real changes at KIREnet for this month. There in the process of adding a few people to their IRC support team which is looking good. A few of the boxes were restarted, not sure why though. Thats about all for KIREnet this month.... New speed tests below. Enjoy!

Update 9/1/2000

Anyone who had  KIREnet shell 5 months ago wouldn't recognize them now. After moving all the boxes to Sprint lines, uptime and bot stability have greatly improved. Not only has the stability improved, but support has also been improved. They had a small attack this morning which caused everything to be lagged. Everything seems to be okay now. New speed tests below. Enjoy!

KIREnet has added a few vhosts to each box, check the vhosts list to view them. A couple boxes had a few problems since the last review, but all is running smooth now. Not much else. New speed tests below. Enjoy!

KIREnet has just added a very impressive server replacing Shadow.KIREnet.com. Phantom.KIREnet.com is a 1000MHz AMD Athlon, 768MB RAM, 256MB Swap, and two 40gig hard drives, only one of which is in use at the moment. Eggdrop complied lighting fast and without any errors I've updated the speed test information, although it shouldn't be that different from before. Very nice server!

Update 11/4/2000

Crontab as been disabled at KIREnet due to security issues so the uptime probably won't be correct until they enable it again. They've been accepting PayPal payments for a while now, easy fast way to get a shell for the credit card less. The bots continue to be very stable. Thats about all that I can think of. New speed tests below.

Update 02/01/2001

Uptimes have been updated. KIREnet's stability is definitely on the up and up. Phantom seems to have a *LOT* of problems with DOS lately, though. Word has it around the industry that KIREnet is working on a 12th public shell server. We'll have it first, right here.

No info on that new alleged server yet. Who knows. KIREnet seems to be having lots of problems with hard drives failing lately, replacing two of them in two servers. Probably because KIREnet is just so damn old. At least we know they care, though.
