Advance Data is one of the newest shell providers around. A quarterly payment of $24.00 gets you 2 backgrounds(1 bot), a 10MB quota, and a good selection of vhosts. The shell server is a 450MHz AMD K6-2 192MB RAM, a 8GIG hard drive, and sets on a 10MB switch to FDT.net. Advance Data has one of the best support teams that I've seen in a while. Eggdrop complied quickly and without errors. Update - 8/7/2000
There's no need for an update really for
Advance Data since the review only went up a few days ago, but you have one
anyway. They now accept PayPal.com payments and have setup a referral
system. The bot is very stable, went down because I forgot to clean up the
dir after I complied the bot and went over my quota :). Advance Data added a
few commands to make getting information about various things much easier. Everything's
looking good...
Update - 9/1/2000 Advance Data hasn't had much change
since the last review, which is good I suppose. They registered a few
domains and now have over 80 vhosts. They also had a bit of downtime due
to a power outage. Other than that everythings running smooth. Very good
choice for a shell!
Update 10/1/2000 Advance Data had some hard drive problems earlier this month, but everything's going good now. They have setup a new shell/web hosting server which consists of a 600MHz PIII, 256MB RAM, and a 10GIG hard drive. They have also moved some of the vhosts that were on Pegasus to Poseidon, and have added a few domains for vhosts. Enjoy! Update 11/1/2000 Advance Data has stopped offering accounts for EFnet users. They have also moved their support channel to NewNet. The bots have great online times and everything seems to be running smooth. New speed tests below.
